In the recent past the fatal disease of Hepatitis has infected more than a million people worldwide and the figure is on rise in most parts of East Asia. On 22nd April 2014, a newly launched Department of Microbiology, University of Swabi arranged Hepatitis Screening and awareness Camp under the supervision of HOD, Ms.Saima Mahmood. The ceremony started with distribution of Hepatitis logo to all the faculty and students.
After Recitation of Holy verses from Quran which stated about diseases and cure, Head of Department Ms. Saima Mahmood in her welcome note assured complete confidentiality regarding the screening results. The ceremony was chaired by Dean of Sciences, University of Swabi Dr. Mukhtar Alam who emphasized on the fact that prevention is better than cure. Students of Microbiology performed a skit regarding this disease. Afterwards Screening of almost 275 volunteer was done in Microbiology Lab which included faculty and students. Screening of both Male and Female Volunteer was done simultaneously. Every volunteer was allotted with sample number to keep their identity hidden. During Screening Multimedia presentations about medical Specialist views and facts on Hepatitis was displayed in the background. The Honourable Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Noor Jehan visited the camp. She really appreciated effort of the Department and congratulated the Faculty on their successful effort. The department concluded their ceremony with the following message.
